Luminous Mystery 5 of 5.

Scripture

And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’

Luke 22:14–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

Meditation

On the night before he dies, Jesus takes bread, blesses it, breaks it, and gives it to his disciples: ‘This is my body, given for you.’ He takes the cup: ‘This is my blood … do this in remembrance of me.’ The Last Supper hands the Cross forward through every Mass that has been celebrated since.
