Detail: Raphael, The Resurrection of Christ (c. 1499–1502)
Glorious Mystery 1 of 5.
Scripture
‘Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here.’
Mark 16:1–8; John 20:1–18
Meditation
On the third day, the stone is rolled back. The tomb is empty. Mary Magdalene mistakes him for the gardener until he says her name. The Resurrection is not a metaphor that the disciples taught themselves; it is what changed them from a hidden, frightened group into people who would rather die than deny what they had seen. To pray this mystery is to take their word for it — and then to ask what difference it makes.
